Working away...

I'm happy to have Wade (my fiance) home. He's been away working on a film set all weekend, and he's home now! He's very tired with only 5 hrs sleep all weekend, so he's actually asleep right now...

I got a lot of commissioned painting done over the weekend, and this week I hope to finish up that set of 4 paintings I'm doing, and start on some other new pieces... :)

This morning I've been busy packing up postcard orders. There's a 30% off sale on all of my oversized postcards on eBay (40% off on Etsy), and so I'm moving those out to make room for a whole series of normal sized postcards.

This afternoon it's back to painting...

Yay! and...*Yawn*

I'm excited to say that my Facebook page has reached over 100 fans! So as promised - I have drawn 3 people at random from my fans list to receive free mini art prints! Congrats to Natalia, Nadine & Alathea! I'll send your prints off 1st thing Monday morning. :) I'll be doing another draw at 200 fans - so keep the 'LIKES' coming! It's also a good way to keep up-to-date with special offers, newly listed paintings, and other random things I'm doing...

I'm so tired right now as I type this...today I minded my friends' little ones (boy aged 2, and girl aged 6 months) as well as my little Ariella (aged 2) at her place with an early start of 6am. I didn't sleep well last night because I knew I had to wake up at 5am, and I was freaking out that I wouldn't wake up to the alarm! So needless to say, I am feeling like an early night.

I do still feel like getting some painting done though. If I haven't painted throughout the day I always have this urge to paint before I go to sleep. We will be getting take-away for dinner though. :)

Mmm....cake...

I'm trying to be good, really I am. In less than 6 weeks I want to be bikini-ready to hit the Whitsundays! So it didn't help when I had to taste cake samples today for the wedding! I always thought that tasting cake samples was something that only happened in the movies - or maybe really really rich people did. No, today when I went to order my cake, the lady brought out samples for me to taste! Wow. I'm glad she did, because I'm pretty sure I now want the "Marz Mud Cake" - yes - it's like a Mars Bar! Yum!

So my entire day has once again been taken over with wedding planning - and I'm not even planning a big wedding! I'm hardly planning any sort of crazy affair at all - it's going to be as small & casual as it can possibly be! I can now see why people hire wedding planners.

I'm finally settled in back at home now and I'm ready for an afternoon of painting. I'm working on that set of 4 commissioned paintings, so I won't be posting any pics, but you can keep up with my progress on Twitter or Facebook. I now have 92 Facebook fans! When I reach 100 I'll be giving away a set of mini art prints to a random fan. So 'Like' away!

Postcard Sale

Just a quick post before I run off to the Post Office...

I've marked all of my oversized postcards down, to make way for new normal sized postcards!

The oversized ones are approximately 21cm x 14cm, and make fantastic prints when framed - so take advantage 30% off on eBay and 40% off on Etsy! (Works out about the same price due to the exchange rate). There's 5 different prints to choose from. Let me know if you'd like a mix of them, I can do that too! :)

Today is election day in Australia, so we went for a little walk and put in our vote around lunch time. It was nice to actually walk (and not drive) somewhere on the weekend! We're home now and watching the election coverage on TV. I just made a little tweet about Melissa Doyle's jacket, and how her neutral top she's wearing underneath makes it look like she's not wearing anything under it at all - and she re-tweeted it! I'm so excited about that! :) hehe...thanks Mel!

Bub has also decided to have an early night...so that means I can get some Saturday night painting done! Tonight I'm going to be working on a set of 4 commissioned paintings - sketching them out and putting down the initial background layers. Can't wait to start on these!

It's Friday Afternoon!

So most of today has been dedicated to Wedding stuff! I started out this morning putting the finishing touches on the invitations...and it's turned into an all day thing. For those of you who don't already know, I am getting married in early October. It's only going to be a very small wedding, but there still seems to be so many little details to put together!

I also had a few jewellery orders to get ready and posted off, plus the usual housework and mummy duties...so now the sun is going down and I haven't had a chance to get any painting done yet! ('Yet' being the key word). Tonight I'm going to get busy with some sketching on a new commissioned set of paintings I'm doing for a lovely family. There are 4 paintings in this set, so I better get cracking!

"Vintage Blooms"

This afternoon I finished a painting I'm calling "Vintage Blooms". I really love old photos, and this was kind of inspired by a mix of both vintage photos and postcards. It features a blonde, curly haired girl surrounded by many different flowers - roses, violets, daisies, pansies, berries, & chrysanthemums...

I wanted to keep the colours to only brown, cream and light yellows to give the piece a retro feel, although, it does have tiny dashes of pink & black in there too.

Morning Playdate

This morning Ari and I had a playdate with Kate, Ty & Isabelle at Wellington Point, which was nice to get out in the sunshine, catch up and warm up! :)

This afternoon I'll be working on the painting I showed you the sketch of in my last post. It's really coming along now. It has a portrait of a girl in the center, and now I'm working on painting in the floral background. There's heaps of little details...I think it's going to take quite a while.

Sketching away...

Ok, so the weekend didn't exactly hold as much painting time as I had hoped.

I did get some sketching done on a new painting yesterday afternoon though. It's going to be a vintage style, floral, portrait piece!

Once again, it's just an image I've had stuck in my head for a few days & I think it will make a great painting. So far I've just painted a light yellow background to give the canvas some life, and I've started sketching out the floral border in watercolour pencil. Sorry it's a bit hard to see it in this pic...but it gives you an idea. The canvas panel is 12" x 12" x 0.7" (or 30cm x 30cm x 1.5cm).

I've also put "Pool of Tears" up in my eBay Store. I've put most of my originals there, in case there are buyers who aren't signed up to Etsy. If you're not, by the way, you should! Etsy is awesome! I buy things off there all the time!

So...not much painting done...

Morning.

When writing my post on Friday, I must have forgotten about a few things I had planned for this weekend, because I've hardly been able to get any painting done at all. Yesterday I met up with my amazing Bridesmaids for lunch, and I was so tired when I got home (not sure why?) I fell asleep! The opportunities for a spontaneous afternoon Nanna Nap are few and far between these days, so I was really grateful for that. Then last night we were off to a friends 25th birthday party, which I forgot was planned as well.

So...not much painting done.

After some much needed housework this morning, I will be putting brush to canvas...

Bills! Bills! Bills!

Ergh. I hate bills. I just forked out $560 for council rates...there goes my play money. :(

Today is Black Friday! I love Friday the 13th's. I'm not exactly sure why - but it might have something to do with the fact that Wade and I usually 'celebrate' by having snacks and watching scary movies. Preferably old skool "Friday the 13th" type flicks...

Friday usually spells out the end of the working week for most people, but not for me this week. I'll be painting like a mad woman all night and day this weekend. Trying to fit in some much needed art time. Luckily I can watch movies and paint at the same time! :)

Is it 12pm already?

I've been busy with jewellery orders & Ari this morning. I'm still in my pyjamas! However, this afternoon I'll be busy painting away on the 6th piece in my "Mini Alice" series. Don't forget - my "Scorpio" painting is still up for auction until Sunday, and it's still at 1 cent! :)

I think I need a few more hours in my day...

"Arctic Mermaid"

This morning I put the finishing touches on that mermaid painting I was talking about. She's called "Arctic Mermaid" and she's on Etsy at the moment for $129. If you can't afford the original, there are prints already available starting at only $16.95.

Yesterday I finally saw "Eclipse"! I think it's the best Twilight movie so far. Considering I didn't find the "Eclipse" book that interesting, I really liked the movie in comparison. I can't wait for the next movie! The 4th book "Breaking Dawn" was my favourite of the saga. I wonder if they'll break it up into 2 or 3 parts like the book? If they're ($) smart they will.

For the 1st time in ages I haven't got any paintings half finished! Today I'll be starting a new piece completely from scratch. I'm thinking of maybe starting the 6th piece in my "Mini Alice" series. I have to read up on what comes next first...I can't remember exactly.

1 Cent Wonder

This is the thing with eBay. You never know what you're going to get when you put things up for auction. Tonight, I sold a painting for 1c. Yes - one cent. ONE!

So...I asked for it right? I mean, I started the auction at 1 cent. That was the reserve, no catches, no hitches, that's what I was willing to sell it for, and alas - I have! "Purple Leopard" - the original, has sold for a record breaking 1 cent ladies and gentlemen!

"Scorpio"

I'm awake nice and early this morning. For some reason Ariella decided to wake up at 6:30am instead of her usual 8am. So I suppose I may as well get an early start on the day (despite the headache I woke up with). Hello Panadol!

Yesterday I was able to catch up with my best friend and her two little ones at the park, which was so nice. Ari just loves playing with other kids, and she really doesn't get to enough because she's at home with me most of the time.

It just so happens that my best friend is a "Scorpio", so it's quite fitting that I finished my Scorpio painting yesterday! She's up on eBay for a 10 day auction, starting at only 1 cent!

The color palette is based around Scorpio's lucky colors - red and black. It features a big eyed girl wearing a pretty red dress and a black opal necklace - black opal being the birthstone of Scorpio. Of course, there's a friendly looking scorpion thrown in there, as well as the flower for this starsign - the Chrysanthemum. In the background you will also see Scorpio's ruling planet, Pluto!

I'm planning on doing all 12 zodiac signs. So I guess the next one will be...Sagittarius!
