Happy Halloween 2010!

Happy Halloween!

I LOVE Halloween, and I was so disappointed to wake up yesterday with a killer migraine! It lasted all day. I was hopeless. I couldn't paint, I couldn't do anything - just sit there and complain about my head. We were invited to a Halloween party last night and although I had costumes organized and everything, we still couldn't go. Wade wasn't feeling 100% either. So we had a boring night in.

The good news is - I woke up today feeling much better! Plus in the $20 Million lotto superdraw we won....$27! Haha.

Today I'm going to make some Halloween themed snacks & lollies and to try and get some painting done. I wonder if we'll get any trick-or-treaters?...

The auction on "Tropical Mermaid" finishes today also!

Have a spooky day!

Facebook Winners!

I woke up this morning to discover I've reached 203 fans on my Facebook page! Woo hoo! So, as with every 100 followers I reach, I'm giving away mini art prints to random fans. To make it absolutely fair, I've used random.org to give me 2 numbers between 1 and 203, and I've counted through my fan list to those people. And the winners are...

#148 - Georgie Miller and...
#1 - Amie Cupitt (#1 was easy to count to!)

Congrats and thank you to all of the lovely people who have joined the page! There will be more little prizes and giveaways coming up when I reach 300. :)

Today I'll be working on a new vampire painting...

Tropical Mermaid

Here is my latest painting - "Tropical Mermaid"! It features a beautiful mermaid with long flowing red hair with pretty shells and pearls, and two little fish swimming around her. I guess you could say this one was inspired by my recent trip to the Whitsundays! :)

I've put her up for auction on eBay starting at $149. You can also buy prints of her here.

My Facebook page is also getting more fans each day which is awesome - and it's so close to reaching 200 (currently at 192!). When I reach 200 I will be giving away mini art prints to a random fan. Good luck!

Oops!

Today I had planned on going grocery shopping after the post office, and as I left the post office I realized I no longer had my shopping list with me! I had accidentally put it in a parcel that I was sending art prints in! Haha...how embarrassing. I had to email the customer and forewarn them. Lucky there wasn't anything too embarrassing on there - just stir-fry sauce etc...haha...

After the post office I went over to my Mum's place to see my Aunty & Cousin that I hadn't seen in a while, and ended up staying longer than I planned, so tonight I'll be busy catching up on that mermaid painting that I wanted to get finished today.

Carrot Cakes and Painting...

So how's everyone's weekend going?

We've had Wade's dad (my now Father-In-Law!) staying with us for 2 nights, so yesterday we spent the day at home, and him and Wade fixed some things around the house. Ariella sort of pottered around between following them and watching me paint. Well - when I say watching - I mean climbing all over me and trying to get her hands in the paint whilst screaming "Mummma Mummma!".

To try and do something homely and Mumsy with her - we did some cooking together making mini carrot cake muffins! They were so yum! She had fun mixing everything in the bowl...

During the afternoon and into the night (until about midnight) I managed to get quite a bit of painting done on this mermaid piece. I'll be continuing to work on her today...

Mini "Pink Fairy"...

Tonight I'm going to be working on a mermaid painting I started yesterday. I stayed up way too late painting last night and ended up paying for it today when I fell asleep whilst getting Ariella to have an afternoon nap! Turns out I got one too. It was nice though, I'm not complaining.

I also thought I'd mention this little painting I've posted up for auction on eBay - she's called "Pink Fairy" (yeah, it took ages to think of that one) and she's a little mini painting - only 5" x 5"! Cute. It's starting at just $15. :)

"Spider Fairy"

I'm obsessed with "The Girls Next Door" at the moment. Otherwise known as "Girls of the Playboy Mansion". I've been watching it while I paint and I can't get enough. Haha...I know I'm late on the bandwagon - the episodes I'm currently watching are from 2007, and the girls have since broken up with Hef...but I'm loving it all the same.

Last night I finished off a painting called "Spider Fairy". This painting took forever because it just kept changing and changing and changing...

It started out as a fairy that was going to be pink and red with berries and leaves around her, and then out of nowhere it just started changing and becoming kind of halloweeny...

It's weird when that happens. I swear they have a mind of their own. I got frustrated with it a few times, even to the point of putting it down and starting another painting, but then I came back and it started to transform into this "Spider Fairy"...and I'm happy with the final piece. She's currently up for auction here.

This afternoon I'm thinking about painting a mermaid...feel free to throw any ideas at me!

B'Days, Paintings & Jack-o-Lanterns

So much to blog about today!

First and foremost - it's my little Ariella's 2nd birthday today! I can't believe she is 2 already. Of course, it feels like she's been there forever - but at the same time I can't believe it was only 2 years ago that I was laying in hospital, with this tiny beautiful baby in the crib next to me. She's growing up to be so clever (and cheeky!), and she always manages to amaze me with these quirky little things she notices or says. She's enhanced our lives in so many ways, words really can't explain what she means to me. Happy Birthday my gorgeous girl!

(above) Ari & Wade feeding a goat today at 'King Country'!

Late last night I finished off this painting - it's called "Oh Deer, There's a Storm Coming". Quite fitting considering all the rain we've been having here in Brisbane lately!

It features a blonde haired girl with a little deer jumping around her. Her heart has been taken...and she's hoping the oncoming storm will wash her worries away. I've always found storms quite calming, and last night as I was finishing this painting off I was thinking about how at the same time 2 years ago I was in labour with Ari - in a storm! haha. The original is currently for sale for $129.

Also last night, while I was feeling a bit creative, I made these "Frozen Orange Jack-o-Lanterns" for dessert. The Martha Stewart recipe says to put sorbet inside, but I used choc-mint ice cream instead (I thought that was even more halloweeny!). Plus instead of the wire on top I used Chico Babies sticking head down into the oranges - and it really looked like a pumpkin stalk.

Now we're off to celebrate Ari's birthday with a little pizza party! Her fave.

Lovely Friday

Ahhh...lovely Friday!

Ariella's all washed, dressed & fed and happily watching "Postman Pat" so I'm taking the opportunity to do a quick update!

This morning I've got a couple of paintings to get wrapped up and sent out, and the usual grocery/pharmacy errands. Then I'm keen to keep working on a piece that I've been painting over the past couple of days (the stormy one). I've also been meaning to visit a friend I haven't seen in a while today, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get the time - it's so crazy trying to juggle work from home + being a stay at home mum + fitting in all the other little bits and pieces that fill up your week!

It's Ari's birthday on Saturday. She will be a big 2! (No, I can't believe how fast it's gone!). I'm wondering whether to get her ears pierced or not. A lot of people say that it's good to get them done while they're young so that they don't pull on them and touch them, but then others say you should wait until they're older. What do you think?

Happy Friday!

"Butterfly Fairy"

Hello!

I actually finished this painting last night, but our computer was having problems, so I had to wait until tonight to post it. It's called "Butterfly Fairy" and it features a red haired fairy with butterfly wings - surrounded by brightly coloured monarch butterflies!

The original is up on Etsy at the moment for $49.

Ariella (my 2 y.o.) decided not to have a sleep today, which wasn't great this afternoon, but it meant she went to bed a lot earlier tonight which is nice! :) I can get some painting done. Today I also managed to do a bit of an update on my website. It was in need of one.

Tomorrow I hope to finish another painting I'm currently working on. So far it's got a stormy sort of background...not sure where it will end up!

Home Sweet Home

Well, just a quick note to let you know that we're back home from our Honeymoon today! We had a fabulous time at Daydream Island and the surrounding Whitsunday Islands - it really was the kind of place dreams are made of, and will always have a special little place in my heart now!

I will post photos and stuff later, but for now I'm just getting back into the swing of things, opening my shops back up on Etsy, eBay, ArtFire etc... and of course answering a stack of emails.

Hoping to get some painting in this afternoon. I've got plenty of inspiration!!
