"Peace Angel"

While Ariella was at Kindy today, I finished off a piece that I've been working on over the weekend, it's called "Peace Angel". She has long green hair and big matching green eyes. She's wearing a necklace with a peace symbol on it, and in amongst the flowers there is a dove, which is known as the bird of peace.

She's currently on Etsy for $125.

When I went to pick Ari up from Kindy today, I had to sign a form saying that she had been bitten by another child - eek! I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. She seems fine, there's only a little mark there. I suppose you would feel worse if your child was the biter!

Ok well I'm going to go get some painting in before I make dinner. We're having Chicken Cashew Masala tonight! Yum.

Black Friday Sales

For all my American friends today is "Black Friday" which signifies the beginning of the festive shopping season! It also means big sales across the entire weekend including big online shopping sales on "Cyber Monday".

What does this mean for me? Well, I'm currently offering 15% off everything for 4 days in my Etsy store! - just use the code BFCM2010 at checkout.

Also at the moment Zazzle is having their biggest sales of the year - with different offers every 2 hours! This morning they had 65% off all art prints!! - so I went ahead and stocked up, you just don't ever get them cheaper.

I've also put "Green Magic Fairy" and "Blue Butterfly Fairy" mini's up for $25 each - first in gets them! These minis are the cheapest way to own any of my original paintings. :)

This afternoon we're off to Isabelle's 3rd birthday party! You have to go as your favourite childrens character - so Ariella is going as Angelina Ballerina! I've gotta go make mouse ears...

"Tiger Princess"

It's very overcast here today...kind of raining on and off. A good day to stay in and paint, except I've promised Ariella we can go and have a play with her friends Jarvis and Cloee later. Until then though I might be able to get some painting done.

For the last couple of days I've been working on a painting called "Tiger Princess" - she's finished now and I've put her up for auction on eBay for 10 days.

I don't know why, but for the past week or so I've just been seeing tigers everywhere! (Ok, not literally of course.) First it will be a tiger tattoo on someone at the shops, and then a TV show about tigers, and then I see a news report on my email account about how tigers may become extinct in 12 years, and I just felt I needed to paint one...

There are also prints of this her available on Zazzle starting at just $15.80.

I hope you're all having a nice week! :)

Monday Morning

So I've just dropped Miss A off at kindy, and I'm ready for another week!

Today I've got quite a few postcard orders to get ready to post (they're 50% off at the moment!), and then I'll be working on some new original paintings. :)

I've also listed another couple of mini original paintings up for auction in my eBay store - "Green Magic Fairy" and "Blue Butterfly Fairy".

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! x

"Pretty in Pink" & "Hippie Princess"

It's been quite a busy week painting wise...lots of orders coming in, and I'm trying to keep my stock up :)

One pretty big piece (60cm x 30cm) I finished this week is "Pretty in Pink". There's quite a lot of little details in this one, with lots of little pearls and flowers.

Another I just listed this morning is "Hippie Princess". She kind of created herself while I was watching trashy episodes of reality tv (my fave!) on MTV yesterday. We're trying out Foxtel on XBox at the moment - it's new and it's much cheaper than getting cable Foxtel. I really like it!

If you're looking for a piece of my art that has already sold, or you want something a bit more affordable than the original piece - you should check out my Art Prints available from Zazzle. You can have Zazzle frame them or you can frame them yourself! They make great Xmas pressies too :)

I'm going to be working away at painting some new mini paintings today.

Happy Friday everyone!

Starting to think about Christmas...

How was everyone's weekend?

Ours was pretty tame. Ari and I were feeling better by Saturday, and we had some friends over for pizza and wine on Saturday night, which was nice, but other than that we just worked around the house, and I got a bit of painting done.

Yesterday was a good day for sales though - I sold 5 original paintings! I think everyone (including me!) is starting to think about Christmas presents and things. And if you're anything like me, whenever I start shopping for presents I always end up with a present for someone and 5 presents for myself from things I've seen along the way!

No, seriously this Christmas we are watching our spending a little bit and trying to give people meaningful gifts that don't necessarily cost a fortune. In the past 6 months we've had a Wedding, several birthdays, a change of job, as well as a million bills to pay, so I'm really trying to make sure I don't go too "silly" this season. Plus, I'll be too busy painting to shop right? :)

What have you got planned for presents this Christmas?

Mini Purple Fairy

Yesterday while Ari was at kindy (she had a good day by the way - no tears!), I finished a mini fairy painting - "Purple Fairy". She's up for auction on eBay at the moment.

I woke up this morning with a bit of a sore head and a scratchy throat, then I picked Ari up and noticed she had a high temperature, so it looks like we're both under the weather...

Today I'm just going to take it easy, get some chores done around the house, and then work on painting this afternoon.

Happy Friday everyone!

"Pansy Fairy"

Just a quick afternoon blog post...

Today I finished a new painting called "Pansy Fairy". Pansies are definitely one of my favourite flowers, I'm not exactly sure why, I think it's because I remember my grandma having them and the colours are amazing. The way they can have the darkest deepest purple against a bright yellow and white... Of course you can get them in heaps of colours these days! I plan on getting some as soon as I get around to fixing up my garden. But that's another story...

I've put her up for sale on Facebook and Etsy only at the moment (for $49) because lately I've added things to my other stores (eBay, ArtFire) etc only to have them sell a few hours later on Facebook or Etsy and then I still have to pay the fees for the other listings. I'm not complaining though - it's awesome that they've sold so fast! :) So if it doesn't sell in the next few days I'll also add it to eBay and ArtFire.

Tonight we're having dinner at my Mum and Dad's so yay - I have the night off!

1st Day of Kindy & 2 New Paintings!

I've pretty much been painting all day today. My eyes are starting to go fuzzy!

Ariella (my daughter) had her 1st day at daycare yesterday, and all went pretty well. It was hard for both of us I think. I didn't want to act nervous or worried because I wanted her to feel safe and confident, but inside I felt a mixture of excitement, anxiety and guilt. I know that it will absolutely benefit her in so many ways, she's definitely ready for it, but of course I felt bad leaving her somewhere that she had never been before and I worried that she wouldn't settle in. The teacher said she had quite a good day though - she even had a sleep there! :)

Today she was home with me again and I realised how easy it was to get things done yesterday! haha. I still managed to finish off a couple of new paintings though. The first one "So Koi" is one that I've had sitting around for about a year, unfinished, so I've finally added the final touches in. The 2nd is a new "mini" painting (5"x5") called "Flying Key". They're both up for auction on eBay finishing on Sunday.

A Nice Surprise!

A couple of days ago I received these beautiful cards in the mail as a surprise from Emily Orpin! It was so sweet to receive them out of the blue, and I must say they are really good quality. She takes these amazing photos herself and creates gift cards and notecards from them and sells them in her Etsy store. There are some great Xmas themed ones in there too. Which reminds me, I haven't even started writing mine yet!

No lazy Sunday here for us. Today we're getting Ari's kindy stuff organised - my little baby girl is going to have her very own lunchbox!! Then we're off to visit my Grandma and Grandad at my Mum and Dad's place.

I've also been working on a painting I hope to have finished tonight. It's very "blue". But more about that later...

If you're interested in buying any prints of my art (maybe for Xmas?)...you can get all of them here in any size you like!

"Flutterby Fairy"

And...it's Friday again! Where did the week go!?

I've just put the finishing touches on a new painting called "Flutterby Fairy". She's currently up on Etsy for $49. :) What do you think?

Today I also took the plunge and enrolled Ariella into daycare. She starts on Monday and I feel a bit nervous about it to be honest. They are a beautiful daycare centre, with lovely lovely people and she will be absolutely fine there, but she's my BABY! I'm sure every mother goes through this right? I know I'm making the right choice because she's SO ready for it. She loves playing with other kids and there's only so much I can do with her here at home, especially while my art side of things is getting busier and busier. So it's time.

I'm now off to do some much needed housework (how exciting), and then let's let the weekend begin!

"Alice & W.Rabbit"

This morning I finished the 8th piece in my "Mini Alice" series. It's called "Alice & W.Rabbit" and it's slightly different from the other 7 pieces because it's a little bigger. I just felt that this one wouldn't work as a square shape. Hence, it's 12" x 10" rather than the usual 8" x 8". It features Alice and the White Rabbit (i love painting him!)...and I would have to say it's my favourite of the series so far.

I've listed the original on Etsy for $79, and if you miss out on that, you can get the prints here.

Yesterday I ended up betting $15 on the Melbourne Cup ($10 on one horse, $5 on another) and I ended up winning $15.50. So overall I ended up with a 50c profit! Haha!

This morning Wade emailed me these aerial photos of Dutch tulip fields - aren't they amazing? It looks like someone has coloured them in!

Melbourne Cup + 2 new paintings!

It's Melbourne Cup day today! Who are you putting your bets on? I've heard that "So You Think" is a sure fire to win...I also like the sound of "MaLuckyDay".

Last night I finished up two new paintings - the vampire one, and a new mini! "Vampire Bat" features a pretty red-haired, red-eyed vampire bat! She has a pretty pink bow in her hair and a little red heart stitched to her chest. She's quite innocent looking really!

If you can't afford the original or you miss out, you can always buy prints of her HERE!

The mini is simply called "Blue Fairy" - and she's actually kind of an evil fairy if you ask me! I've put her up for auction (finishing Sunday).

Today I'll be busy sketching up a BIG commissioned piece that I've got in the works, and hopefully starting a new painting. Good luck on the Melbourne Cup! :)
