I'm Getting Married!

OK well for those of you who don't know - Wade and I are getting married this weekend! We will then be heading to the Whitsundays for a week on our honeymoon. We're both really excited, and we're looking forward to having some relaxation time!

While I'm away, my online stores will be temporarily closed. My Facebook page will still be up with all of my available artwork there, so if you are interested in buying anything, you can just leave a comment saying so underneath the painting that you want and that will reserve it for you until I get back. :)

In the meantime, I hope you all have a lovely week, and I look forward to writing my next blog post as Mrs. Higgins!

Queen Bee

Well it's Wednesday, and NO, I'm not even going to mention the 'W' word (Wedding!!!) in this post! It's all anyone wants to talk about at the moment! :)

My computer has decided to completely crash at the moment, so I'm updating from my laptop...phew!

Today I finished a new painting called "Queen Bee" and she's currently for sale on Etsy for $49 (or by just emailing me at: It features Miss Queen Bee...wearing a crown dripping with honey, as she watches her little worker bees buzzing around her...

If the original is already snapped up, you can always buy the print here!

It's getting close now!

Wow! This time next week I will officially be a 'Mrs'!!! It's getting so close now and all very real and exciting!!

Of course this week will be busy with wedding preparations, but my painting will be going along as usual until Thursday night.
First and foremost I've got a commission to finish (the one that I was telling you about similar to "Vintage Blooms" but with lots of pink in it...), before I leave on my honeymoon.

I'll be away for about a week...but I'll post more about that later in the week with exact details of when I will be away and what my shops are doing etc...
For now I'm off to paint into the night!

Set of 4 Paintings Finished

I've been such a desperate housewife this morning! I've gone from cleaning up vomit, to washing clothes, to doing dishes, to sweeping the floors, to trying to make my 2 year old eat...(Does anyone else have a toddler that doesn't want to eat!?)...

Anyway...I can finally now sit down and catch up on some emails and painting work. I can also now show you a set of 4 commissioned paintings I have been working on!

This lovely client of mine has 4 children - 3 girls and a boy, and I created 30cm x 30cm paintings for each of them, including little things here and there that represent each of them.

Both the client and I are really happy with the way they turned out! :)

This afternoon I'm going to be working on another commission that I need to finish before my wedding in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics and info about it once I've finished.

In the meantime, if you've got an idea for a commissioned painting, feel free to email me at: with your ideas!

Hens Night

Certainly a big weekend! It's Sunday night and I feel like I am slowly recovering from my Hen's Night. The girls put on a fabulous party - complete with beautiful balloons, awesome food, copious amounts of pink champagne and other alcoholic beverages, fresh flowers, candles, games and entertainment!

Anyway, now it's back to reality and back to working on some commissioned paintings. The one I'm working on at the moment is kind of similar to "Vintage Blooms", except with a pinkier colour palette.

I've also got to work out what to have for dinner...hmm...

Big Weekend Ahead!

Well - it's Friday everyone!

I've managed to finish off a couple of commissions this week, which I'm really happy with. I'll post pictures once I have the clients approvals. I've also started a new one, which is pretty cool because it's actually going to be prize for a competition that a particular company is running. I'll post more details on that later...

Tonight Wade's throwing around the idea of taking me out to dinner, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to keep up my 'healthy eating' regime at an all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet! Could be a problem...I'll let you know how that goes.

I've got a huge weekend ahead including both my Hen's Night/Wade's Bucks & my birthday! So I may not be getting a lot of painting done this weekend, but it will certainly be a memorable one.

What are you doing this weekend?

"Dodo: The Caucus Race"

There just aren't enough hours in the day at the moment - with taking care of Ari (she's nearly 2!), wedding planning, and lots of painting to do. Yesterday however, I finished the 7th piece in my "Mini Alice" series. It's called "Dodo"!

After Alice finds her way out of the Pool of Tears, she happens upon a Dodo who suggests they have a Caucus race to "dry off". "However, when they had been running half an hour or so, and were quite dry again, the Dodo suddenly called out, 'The race is over! and they all crowded round it, panting, and asking 'But who has won?'" (-taken from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll).

The original is currently on Etsy and eBay. First in gets him. :)

I was tossing up between two quotes to use in the painting - either "The race is over! But who has won?" or "Everybody has won, and all must have prizes!". I decided to go with the first one because of another quote that I read recently that has stuck in my head....

The other day on twitter, Kat Von D's sister Karolyn posted: "When the game is over, the King and the Pawn go into the same box".

It's so true. We're all kind of heading towards the same's just up to us what road we take to get there. So when the race is over...who has won? The richest? The kindest? The prettiest? The most adventurous?

What do you think?

Starting the 7th Mini Alice Painting...

Today in between commissioned work, I started the 7th piece for my "Mini Alice" series. Usually I keep it as a surprise, but I think I'll let you in on the progress of this one. It's going to feature the "Dodo". I've only just started laying down some colour...

I want to include a quote from the book in this one. I'm tossing up between using "The race is over! But who has won?" or "Everybody has won, and all must have prizes!" - which one do you think?

Also, if you're interested, there are still a couple of "Mini Alice" originals available here!

Happy Father's Day!

Sorry I've been M.I.A for a few days, it's been a crazy busy week!

On Friday night we took some much needed time out to go to Red Fest! The website really doesn't do it any justice - it was more of a fun carnival than a bunch of mediocre music acts. We ate dagwood dogs, chips, fairy floss & strawberry ice creams! Ariella got a cool "Smarties" showbag, and went on the carousel which was made in 1941 - so cute! She LOVED it - she didn't want to get off. When the music stopped she said "giddy up, giddy up"....I had to carry her off screaming!

It's Father's Day today, and while we had a pretty relaxing morning, we spent the afternoon spring cleaning! It's feels so much better when everything is de-cluttered! It's also drizzling with rain outside, which I love.

Now that's everything's clean and fresh, it's time to paint...! :)
