"Cara: The Innocent"

It's a cold, rainy day here today. Perfect weather for painting and sipping cups of tea. I've got Miss 3 here with me, and it gets a little bit tough after a few days of rainy (stay inside) weather - but hopefully we've got enough episodes of 'My Little Pony' to tide us over...

Yesterday I was excited to get some new postcard designs in! That makes a total of 11 designs now available in postcard packs. Each pack contains 4 high quality postcards + 4 white envelopes.

I also wanted to share my latest original painting - "Cara". She is the second painting in my series called "The Innocents". I'm so glad I added freckles to her - I think they suit her perfectly! She looks so cute...but unsure about something?

She's painted on a wood panel, which is a bit different for me - I typically paint on canvas. I loved painting on this smooth wood though -  the brush just glides over the surface. Although, you have to work harder because the paint dries differently to the way it does on canvas, so it requires lots of thin layers.

"Cara: The Innocent" Original Painting

I decided to put this one up for auction starting at just $10 - so everyone is in with a chance to own a piece of original art! You can view the auction HERE!

I haven't decided whether to add prints of her? What do you think?

Today I'm working on a new 8"x8" original canvas painting...

I've only just started sketching it out and laying down the shapes of the painting in a dark purple colour. I've started sketching in little details like a caterpillar and some ladybugs. I'm going to try to finish her off today, as well as start work on a big commissioned painting I've got in the works.

Happy Hump Day!

Special Framed Prints

This morning I've been busy getting print orders ready to send out today. The sun is also out - so I've been doing a couple of loads of laundry too. Miss 3 is also home, so I've been organising breakfast and puppet shows. Quite the multi-tasker!

Yesterday I listed some special framed prints on my Facebook page. A lot of them were snapped up quickly - but there are still a few left! Unfortunately Facebook have started charging businesses to show their status updates in newsfeeds - so a lot of my fans haven't even had a chance to see them.

Here are the links to the photos:
Only "Alice in Wonderland Triptych" left.
These 5x7" framed prints are both available!
"Hippie Princess" and "Frida and The Watermelon" are still available.

I'm hoping to get some actual painting done this afternoon! For now though, I think I should get out of my pj's before we go to the post office...

MPC Challenge Revealed, Sale Items Revealed & Winner Revealed.

It's the 15th - and that means that it's reveal day for the Monthly Painters Challenge. This month's secret topic was: "Breakfast". So this is what I came up with:

The first thing I like to have in the morning is a cup of tea - regardless of whatever breakfast I'm about to have. Some mornings are so busy that this is all I manage to fit in until about 11am!

I wanted to do something a bit different than usual for me, so I played around with different textured papers - cutting them in to small pieces and kind of 'decoupaging' them on to the canvas, and painting over them.

I had fun with this one.

"Breakfast Tea" original painting

This original painting is up for auction starting at just $5. You can view the auction HERE.

There won't be any prints available of this painting, so the original is your only chance to have it on your wall.

Once again, my little studio under the stairs is looking rather cluttered. So...this means I'm having a little sale. "Red Butterfly Fairy" has already sold (before I even had a chance to post this pic!) but there are still "Miss Muffet" and "Totem Dolls" original paintings available.

Also...I have a winner from my last blog giveaway! The winner of the "Teeny Cupcake" original painting is...#2 - Katherine. Congrats! :)

It's Friday and the weekend is ahead of us! Enjoy!! :)

5 Things I'm Loving Right Now:

1. Dark Shadows - The Movie

Hubby and I had the chance to see this the other night and I just loved it. Of course, when Tim Burton and Johnny Depp get together, it's not surprising that amazing things happen...but I was so impressed by the costumes and set design. The casting was perfection as well. I'm keen to watch the original (1960s) episodes now!

What I would give to have a house like this!

2. The Art of Miss Van:

 Love her provocative doll girls.

3. Custom iPad sleeves by Zazzle!

These are so cool - iPad sleeves with my art on them! You can customize the layout and colour of the binding and lining. Check out the full range HERE.

4. Cadbury's Marvellous Creations
I've tried the Jelly Popping Candy Beanies one (which Hubby loved - but I thought it was too distracting having the popping in my mouth the whole time). The Jelly Crunchie Bits one is yummy but super sweet. And I'm yet to try the Peanut Toffee Cookie flavour - I have to give it to Cadbury on these though - they truely are marvellous creations.

5. 25 ways to wear a scarf in 4.5 minutes.

With the cooler weather setting in here in Brisbane, Australia - this video is coming in very handy!

"Treasures of the Sea" and the markets...

Don't you just love long weekends? It's Sunday night but it feels like Saturday! :)

I've finished off the mermaid painting! It took a few days. This latest painting is a pretty big one - (60cm x 30cm x 1.5cm) - and it has quite a bit of detail in it. It's called "Treasures of the Sea" and it features a hot pink/maroonish mermaid with all sorts of nautical curiosities around her. Shells, flowers anchors, a sea compass, pearls, a wheel from a sunken pirate ship...

The original painting is up in my eBay store for $260 (or you can buy it on Facebook for $250). If the original is out of the question, there are also prints available in 2 sizes:

It's been cold and rainy today here in Brisbane, Australia - perfect weather to snuggle up and watch movies (and paint!). However this morning we did venture out to the markets to get some fruit and vegies, and I managed to find this little treasure:

"Where Did the Baby Go?" - Little Golden Book 1978 edition.

It was one of my absolute favourite books as a child, and I've been trying to find it for the past few years - to read to Miss 3. So I was stoked to pick it up for $1.

Wade also managed to come across a little treasure for himself:

"Mario Kart" for Nintendo 64.
 Old skool!

Tonight I'm going to be working on a big update for my website ( It probably won't be ready for another couple of weeks though.

That's all for now! Hope you've enjoyed your weekend so far. xo

Summer Bliss Fairy

Good morning! It's Friday!

Yesterday I started sketching up (in paint) a new mermaid painting. I'm still not sure of all of the details that will go in to it yet - this is all I've got so far:

A rough sketch of a new mermaid painting...

Before I work on this one anymore today though, I've got to work on my Monthly Painters Challenge piece.

In case you missed it - on Wednesday night I posted a new original painting. This one is called "Summer Bliss Fairy" and I've already recieved lots of really nice comments on it on Facebook. Plus I've now reached 800 fans on FB which is really cool.

Today I've got Miss 3 with me - and it's a lovely rainy overcast day - perfect for painting. So here goes!
