Lots of little projects!

It's been a crazy couple of days with lots of art orders, a sick husband (man flu!), Miss 3 at home, Drs appointments, lugging massive rolls of cardboard & bubble wrap (packing supplies) around, trips to the post name it. Tomorrow I'll be happy to bunker down and finish off that big (72cm x 101cm) monochrome commissioned painting. Hopefully once it's complete and the client is 100% happy, I will be able to share some pictures. It's 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired, and it's coming along really nicely. It's strange because I usually work with lots of bright colours, and this one is all black, grey and white! It's fun to do something different though.

As well as that I've been busy getting wholesale orders organised to send out to a few shops in the next few days. Art prints, postcard packs and notecards...
Makin' notecards!

I'll let you know the details of the stores once I've finalised each lot.

So...there's lots of little things going on at the moment. It's now right in the thick of Winter here in Brisbane, Australia (which let's face it, doesn't exactly get any snow), but it's cold enough to want to wear my dressing gown all day long (which I would except the sleeves are too bulky and always end up in my paint water!). The Winter days are stunning though - blue skies, a chill in the air and the warm sun beaming down. I might even get the chance to snap a few photos this weekend for the Yellow Pages "Capture the Cover" comp! I don't know how I'm going to compete with entries like this one from Perth, but I'll give it a go!

Brisbane's Bayside does have some stunning areas to capture. Let's just hope this nice weather continues through the weekend! :)

"No Reflection"

This week so far I've been struck down with the flu! Bleh. :(

I am managing to get some work done though. Yesterday I posted my painting for the Monthly Painters Challenge. This month's secret topic was "Reflection". I immediately thought of a mirror (an obvious choice!) - but then I thought it might be a nightmare trying to get the placement of the facial features right with someone looking in a mirror (kudos to Natasha White!). So then I thought "Hey! I'll paint a vampire! They don't have a reflection!" GENIUS.

"No Reflection" Original Painting

The original is up on eBay for $69 or if you buy through the MPC Facebook page, it's only $60 - just type "sold" and your email address in the comment field of the picture.

There are also 8"x10" prints available HERE

Luckily, Hubby has been really helpful while I've been sick - making dinner, doing laundry etc while also working crazy hours, so I'm incredibly thankful for that!

In other exciting news - I got hair feathers! hehe. This photo is just a quick shot that I took on my phone a few minutes ago - not the best lighting, sorry.

I've grown feathers!

You can do anything with them in your hair - still wash it normally, brush it, straighten it and even dye it. They last around 4 months.

Today I have Miss 3 at home, so in between panadol (for me), making food, dodging toys and watching puppet shows - I will be working on that big commissioned painting I have been talking about, the one all in monochrome (black, white and grey). It's BIG - 30"x40" (72cm x 101cm) - so it's taking up most of my little studio under the stairs. When people knock at the door I have to say "Hang on, I'm just behind this big canvas!"

Happy Hump Day!

New Website Shop!

For the past 2 days I've been working away on my website - which is rather mind numbing let me tell you! BUT - it's all worth it, because now you can purchase my art prints directly from me! I will still be selling my original paintings (and prints) through my eBay, Etsy and MadeIt stores, but if you purchase them on my website I am offering free Worldwide shipping!

Please let me know if you have any issues with the new website store also. I would love to hear your feedback or suggestions.

The painting that I was working on in the last blog post has already sold! Her name is "Boysenberry Fairy" and she sold within about 10 minutes when I listed her on Facebook! I list my originals up on Facebook usually first thing - so if you want to keep an eye out as they pop up - make sure you subscribe to my facebook page.

There are signed 8"x8" prints of "Boysenberry Fairy" available HERE.

This afternoon I will be finally getting some work done on a big (70cm x 101cm!) commissioned painting. I might be able to post pics once I'm done, depending on what the client wants.:)

Tonight is the State of Origin decider between NSW and QLD teams. I'm not much of a footy girl, but tonight I will be cheering on QLD!! Hubby goes for NSW, so I go along with it just to rub it in really! Haha. Queenslander!!
