Paintings in the works...

Hello Monday!

I've finally got my orders off to the post office for the day, and now it's time to catch up on some other art-related work - including this blog update.

My "Dianthus Fairy" mini painting has now sold. I completely forgot that the State of Origin Final was going to be on Wednesday night - and my auction ended right in the middle of it! That was clever wasn't it? Oh well, one lucky buyer snapped it up! Congrats! :) If you missed out on the original painting, there are now 8x8" prints available HERE.

That night we had some friends around for home made pizza and watched Queensland win again! 8th time in a row. Woo hoo! Baby A dressed the part, but as you can see in the photo - he slept through the entire thing.

I'm currently working on a couple of big paintings for the upcoming "Once Upon a Time" exhibition in August. How is it the 22nd of July already!? I've also got a few commissions that are in the works. I know I told myself that I wasn't taking on any commissions until Baby A is a little bit older, but somehow a couple popped up that sounded like fun and I just couldn't say no! Whoops.

I've had a few people ask where I get the time to paint lately? I only really have the chance to paint at the moment when Baby A is asleep and Miss 4 is asleep (or at preschool), so it is limited, but I've managed to get some done at night and on weekends when Hubby can watch the kids as well. It's a juggle, but I wouldn't have it any other way right now. Speaking of which - now is the perfect time to get off the computer and pick up a brush!

Tonight I've listed a little mini painting (5" x 5") up for auction HERE.

She was inspired by the Dianthus flowers that sit outside my front door (thanks Mum!).

It is a 5 day auction ending on Wednesday night at 8pm AEST.

Hope you have a nice weekend! :)

Good morning!

See that? That's my sleeping baby! Which means...quick get stuff done! So here's a quick update while the washing is on...

Last night I made some changes to my website - - it's mostly the same (it just looks a little different), and I've taken down my art prints for sale on my website for the moment. I'm adding a new shopping cart to my site, but for this Mumma who has very little knowledge of html etc it's proving to be a task and a half! In the meantime, there's always prints available in my eBay store and my Etsy shop.

I've also marked down some of my original paintings that I've had sitting around, to clear up some space around here.

Email me at, with the address you would like them sent to, if you're interested in buying them.

In the meantime, I've got to have lunch and then there's some mini paintings to work on...

Ballina, Byron Bay and then Monday

We're back from a fun weekend!

We spent a long weekend (Fri-Sun) in Northern NSW, visiting my in-laws. The weather was sunny, blue skies, perfect temperature. We had BBQs, bon fires, walked around the rivers and lakes, played at the playgrounds and skateparks, checked out the little surfers at the Oz Grom Surf Competition at Lennox Head, and spent yesterday walking around Byron Bay markets followed by a quick trip to the beach and then dinner at Mokha.

My clever Hubby put together this video of some of the BMX riders at Ballina Skatepark...

Today is Monday and it's back to the daily grind. Fun stuff like groceries, washing, cooking, mummy stuff, art orders etc. but I find it's easier when I've had such a relaxing weekend. I love being at home with my kids. Like, I really love it. But...I also love the work I do with my art business - and that has been calling me more and more lately in every spare moment I have. With an exhibition coming up fast in August, I still need to finish one more big painting for that, and there's always orders to fill during the evenings, plus the never ending pull to paint. It doesn't go away. Those paintbrushes keep calling me!

It's a juggle for any parent out there. I'm particularly interested in hearing about other artist mummies out there who juggle the two hats. Last week my friend Jennie Rosenbaum wrote a post which I found interesting "on being and artist and a mother" I also relate a lot to Rudy Fig's post on the same topic:

How do other parents out there juggle with their career and parenthood? Do you work from home? Do you feel the need for a career now that you have children? Or do you feel that your children are your career? I'd love to hear your stories.
