Before we know it, it will be Easter! So I made these cute Easter themed tags for all of my 'Enchanted Ones' (people on my mailing list). Never fear if you're not on my mailing list - you can get direct access to the Easter tags immediately after you sign up to my newsletter here:

"Blessed Mermaid"

Hello Monday!

Our weekend was mostly filled up with catching up with friends and family. The weather is still HOT here in Brisbane Australia, so I would've been happy to sit at home in the air con all day, but I'm glad we got out and about. :) We went to Wynnum yesterday for lunch and the kids loved playing on the whale park.


On Saturday morning I finished and listed a new original painting "Blessed Mermaid" up for auction in my eBay store, starting at $1.

 It's 15cm x 30cm on stretched canvas, so it can hang on the wall or sit on it's own on a desk or side table.

It looks like the week ahead will be filled with lots of painting with a couple of commission requests coming in this weekend. It's fun to do custom paintings now and then. When I'm painting I can have a million ideas running through my head, and I never really know where the piece is going to end up. Sometimes I can start painting a mermaid and it turns into a fairy. But with a custom piece, I am working with someone else to bring their ideas and dreams into being. It's really a team effort!

"She Happened Upon a Frog"

Hello!

Right now while Baby A is having a nap I'm busy getting some art print orders ready. (Remember - everything has FREE worldwide shipping at ArtByJaz.com at the moment, including original paintings). Although I don't mind packing orders, I really would rather be painting.

At the moment I'm working on a "Little Red Riding Hood" themed piece. I've only just started by blocking some colour into the background and working out where I want things in the painting.
 

and when I'm taking breaks from that, I've been working on some smaller "mini paintings" that I've been putting up for auction in my eBay store. At the moment I have one called "She Happened Upon a Frog" up for auction starting at $1 HERE.

This morning I finished up a new "Purple Lotus" painting I've been working on over the weekend.

I've just had the urge to paint flower after flower after flower lately, and I had saved some really beautiful pics of purple lotus flowers on my computer, so I decided to put them in a painting. They have a really nice meaning also. They are born in muddy water, yet they bloom to be so pure looking and beautiful - giving them a sense of hope and rebirth.

The purples and pinks in this painting really pop!

FREE 'TO DO' LIST! (Printable)

There can be so much in front of me some days that I feel completely overwhelmed. One of the ways I overcome this is to have a 'to-do' list in front of me, so that I can get everything down on paper and tick things off as I do them. Ticking that box is SO satisfying. I even write every day things down like "pick kids up from school' and 'make dinner' - just so I can have the pleasure of ticking them off the list.

 

Most days I will scribble out a rough list on scrap paper, but if you are a stationery freak like me, you will appreciate a 'pretty' list.

So today I designed a FREE 'TO DO' LIST for you to print out and get organized!

Mini paintings!

I've been busy painting mini (6x6") paintings this week. I love them because as soon as I get an idea, I can paint while the kids are asleep at night, and they don't take days/weeks to do - probably about 4-5 hours each? As I stack them around my desk I feel like lots of little fairies are popping up in my studio.

They each have a personality of their own, and they look like they're sneakily popping their head into the frame.

 As I've been painting them, I've been popping them up for auction on eBay, starting at $1 each - so you can decide how much you want to pay for them!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Is Black Friday lucky or unlucky for you?

For generations it's been lucky for my family. Thank goodness - because today is the first of two in a row! It's Friday the 13th next month as well! :)

On Tuesday I managed to finish my "Moon Phase Angel" painting. If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen me working on this one for the past couple of weeks.

After doing a couple of bigger paintings in a row, I wanted to do a few little ones - so I've started on some 6x6" canvasses, and I really like how they're turning out. The first one this week is "Little Bluebell Fairy", who I put up on eBay starting at just $1.

Today was mainly spent packaging art print orders and ordering stock, so I'm looking forward to putting brush to canvas tonight. I also want to wish my late Grandad a happy birthday. He would have been 87 today.

"Flutters of Pink" and "Deep Sea Mermaid"

This week I've been busy working on a new painting called "Deep Sea Mermaid". I had an idea for a gothic style mermaid with a creepy cute feel. I love deep sea creatures, so I wanted to add some scary angler fish in, and of course an octopus.

It's very HOT here today in Brisbane, Australia. Hubby's taking the kids to the pool, and hopefully I'll be spending the afternoon with a cool drink and paintbrush in hand!

This week I've been working on a lighthearted pretty little pink painting - full of flowers, butterflies and anything else that flows naturally on to the canvas.

It started out like this, adding pinks and yellows to the canvas and blush on her cheeks!

Being school holidays, it's been a struggle to find time to sit down and paint each day, but I've managed to get most of it done when the kids are asleep at night.

Adding in 'underpainting' - reds, pinks, purples...working out where I want things to go in the painting.

I'll probably put this pink painting up for auction.

Yesterday I took Miss 6 to the movies to see "Big Hero 6". I had no idea what to expect, and I was surprisingly impressed! It was a great movie for the school holidays, because it suits any gender and any age.

Today I've been sketching all day for a commissioned piece, and haven't yet picked up a paint brush, but I'm really enjoying it! I really need to sketch and draw more often. I don't have prices for drawings on my website, but if you have an idea, let me know roughly what size and detail you're thinking of and I'll happily give you an idea of the price I can do it for. Mermaids...fairies...girls...angels...whatever you can think of!

1st painting for 2015 - "Wattle Fairy"

Good morning! and Happy New Year!

We spent Christmas in Sydney and had a wonderful time with family! This week we're back home and back into work mode, although it is still school holidays, so Miss 6 and Baby A are both at home with me. So let's just say we're back into work/play/chaos mode!

This week I finished off my first painting for 2015. She's called "Wattle Fairy".

I can remember walking to school and smelling Wattle along the way. It's smells so pretty and it's like tiny little yellow pom poms decorating a tree! It is probably my favourite native Australian flower.
